Our main
Mammoth 8mm backup tape drive (manufactured by More Solutions)
was in need of repair. It couldn't be fixed, so we replaced
it with a similar drive. However, the new tape drive could
not read our archived tapes.
GST Solution:
GST suggested
attaching their Commander Lite iSeries controller to our
tape drive. This would permit the drive to emulate an
IBM 3590 Magstar Tape Drive and allow us to read and restore
from our tapes.
The Result:
We sent
our drive to GST. They installed our drive into the Commander
Lite controller, tested it and sent it back to us in a
very timely manner. The tape drive now reads, writes,
and restores from all of our Mammoth tapes. Thank you!
