The Internal Mammoth Tape Subsystem is part of our InternalDR™ family. It delivers high-performance and high reliability at cost-effective pricing. These single tape subsystems meet the basic backup needs for small to medium range servers.

The Internal Mammoth Tape Subsystem is designed for a wide variety of servers. Native connectivity uses LVD (low voltage differential) SCSI connection.

Mammoth Technology

Mammoth tape technology has evolved through two generations and provides read compatibility to existing Mammoth backups. The technology was originally created by Sony Corporation and later expanded by Exabyte Corporation.

Native cartridge capacities for Mammoth2 are 60GB (120GB compressed) with speeds of 43GB/hr (86GB/hr compressed). A 2-to-1 compression ratio is achieved with IDRC technology.

Key Benefits

Compatibility - GST’s internal Mammoth drive will read legacy 8mm and Mammoth tape media.

Lower Investment – Attachment features normally required with external tape drives are not needed. Additional features required by external tape devices can include:
