GST’s
InternalDR™ family provides internal tape drive connectivity
for a wide variety of servers.
- A single SLR tape drive that installs
directly in the server.
- Capacity: SLR140 is 70GB native
(140GB compressed).
- Speed: SLR140 is 21GB/hour native
(43GB/hr compressed).
- Supports SLR75 and SLR140.
- Roadmap to SLR200 and SLR400.
- No attachment features or associated
costs.
- SLR range: single drive to autoloaders.
- Supports LVD SCSI connection directly.

The Internal SLR Tape Subsystem is
part of our InternalDR™ family. It delivers high-performance
and high reliability at cost-effective pricing. These single
tape subsystems meet the basic backup needs for small to medium
range servers. They install directly inside a wide variety
of servers and include an advanced operator interface for
visibility over the backup operation.
The Internal SLR Tape Subsystem is
designed for a wide variety of servers. Native connectivity
uses LVD (low voltage differential) SCSI connection.
GST’s Internal SLR Tape Subsystem is available in a
variety of models. Each SLR technology (SLR75 and SLR140)
is available in different types of packaging for the configuration

SLR (Scalable Linear Recording) tape
technology has evolved through three generations to the popular
versions today: SLR75 and SLR140. Native capacities for SLR75
and SLR140 are 37GB and 70GB (75GB, 140GB compressed) with
speeds of 14GB/hour and 21GB/hour (28GB/hour, 43GB/hour compressed).
It has a 6-generation roadmap that provides for a native capacity
of 200GB per cartridge (400GB compressed) and a transfer rate
of up to 115GB/hour (230GB/hour compressed).
SLR technology provides high capacity
and performance, backward compatibility, reliability, scalability
and the use of existing media now and in the future. Data
is recorded in parallel on four tracks for SLR75 and SLR140.
Data placement ensures that it can be read during a restore
operation even if the media is degraded. The current generation
of SLR technology is characterized by large data buffers,
In-Line Compression feature and an Auto-Sense function that
optimizes tape speed.
- GST’s internal SLR
drives compare favorably to DAT and VXA technology for about
the same price.
– Attachment features normally required
with external tape drives are not needed. Additional features
required by external tape devices can include:
1. Input/Output Processor
2. Input/Output Adapter
3. Additional towers
– SLR75 and SLR140 are
backward-read compatible, and forward-read compatible to
future generations.
– Floor space or desktop area for an
external tape drive is eliminated.
– Internal attachment of SLR single
drives with a wide variety of servers results in a high
degree of integration, eliminating high connection costs
and simplifying drive containment.
– A variety of support programs
provides installation and onsite service; includes GST’s
Accelerated Ship Program (GASP) to get replacement units
on the scene rapidly.
– Purchase price includes built-in 3 year warranty.
