GST’s
InternalDR™ family provides internal tape drive connectivity
for a wide variety of servers.
- A single VXA tape drive that installs
directly in the server.
- Capacity: VXA is 80GB native (160GB
compressed).
- Speed: VXA is 21GB/hour native (43GB/hour
compressed).
- Supports VXA-2.
- Outperforms DAT and SLR drives.
- No attachment features or associated
costs.
- VXA range: single to dual drives.
- Supports LVD SCSI connection directly.

The Internal VXA Tape Subsystem is
part of our InternalDR™ family. It delivers high-performance
and high reliability at cost-effective pricing. These single
tape subsystems meet the basic backup needs for small to medium
range servers.
The Internal VXA Tape Subsystem is
designed for a wide variety of servers. Native connectivity
uses LVD (low voltage differential) SCSI connection.
GST’s Internal VXA Tape Drive is available in a variety
of models. Each VXA drive is available in different types
of packaging for the configuration groups shown below:

VXA tape technology has evolved through
two generations and provides outstanding capacity and performance
with a highly stable technology roadmap. VXA utilize packet
technology, providing improved data reliability.
Native cartridge capacities for VXA-2
are 80GB (160GB compressed) with speeds of 21GB/hr (43GB/hr
compressed). A 2-to-1 compression ratio is achieved with Adaptive
Lossless Data Compression (ALDC) technology.
- GST’s internal VXA
drives compare favorably to LTO-1, DAT, and SLR technology
for about the same price. GST’s VXA internal drive
is nearly half the cost of LTO-2 with comparable speed and
capacity.
– Attachment features normally required
with external tape drives are not needed. Additional features
required by external tape devices can include:
1. Input/Output Processor
2. Input/Output Adapter
3. Additional towers
– VXA are backward-read
compatible, and forward-read compatible to future generations.
– Floor space or desktop area for an
external tape drive is eliminated.
– Internal attachment of VXA single
drives with a wide variety of servers results in a high
degree of integration, eliminating high connection costs
and simplifying drive containment.
– RS232 interface for updating
firmware and optimizing drive performance.
– A variety of support programs
provides installation and onsite service; includes GST’s
Accelerated Ship Program (GASP) to get replacement units
on the scene rapidly.
– Purchase price includes built-in 3 year warranty.
