GST’s Single sDLT Tape Subsystem is part of our EntryDR™ family. sDLT tape technology provides high-performance in a basic GST backup solution for small to mid-sized servers. These models deliver high capacity, speed and reliability at cost-effective pricing to meet basic backup needs. An LCD panel provides an advanced operator interface for visibility over the backup operation.

The Single sDLT Tape Subsystem can backup a wide variety of servers. They connect natively with LVD (low voltage differential), HVD (high voltage differential), and FC (Fibre Channel) interfaces.

Model Overview

GST’s Single sDLT Tape Subsystem is available in a variety of models. sDLT technology is available in two server-to-SCSI Adapter interfaces and one fibre interface:

Low Voltage Differential (LVD). Maximum SCSI negotiation of 160MB/s; the total server-to-storage peripheral connectivity is 12 meters.

High Voltage Differential (HVD). Maximum SCSI negotiation of 40MB/s; the total server-to-storage peripheral connectivity is 25 meters.

Fibre Channel (FC). 2Gbit fibre interface.

sDLT Technology

sDLT tape technologies supported are sDLT320 and the newer sDLT600. Native capacities for sDLT320 and sDLT600 are 160GB and 300GB (320GB, 600GB compressed) with speeds of 58GB/hour and 130GB/hour (115GB/hour, 260GB/hour compressed). A 4-generation roadmap provides for a native capacity of 1.2TB per cartridge (2.4TB compressed) and a transfer rate of up to 360GB/hour (720GB/hour compressed).

The sDLT is based on the technology platform that more companies trust to protect their business critical information asset than any other: DLTtape. Specifically designed for the high duty-cycle requirements of the high-end and automated environments, sDLT drives are rated at 250,000 hour Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) at a 100% tape motion. A low-tension tape design, simple tape path and the proven reliability of linear serpentine tape recording combine to provide users with rock solid reliability and data integrity.
