For pSeries and RS/6000 servers, this 4mm DDS-4 tape drive, with 20 GB native data capacity per tape cartridge and a native physical data transfer rate of up to 3 MB per second, uses 2:1 compression so that a single tape cartridge offers up to 40 GB of physical capacity. The DDS-4 drive is designed to be read and write compatible with DDS-4, DDS-3, and DDS-2 formats. The DDS-4 drive also utilizes a unique media recognition feature engineered to help increase product reliability.
