(#6594) - 4-Disk Slot Exp-PCI-X Ctlr
The IBM #6594 is a disk backplane feature for the model 520 or model 550 system unit, which enables the second four disk slots to be driven by a separate disk controller plugged into a system unit PCI slot.
Disk units plugged into the #6594 are controlled by a disk controller plugged into a CEC PCI slot. The #6594 is not usable by either the embedded system unit disk controller or by a #5709/#5727.
A #6594 can be used for obtaining RAID or disk mirroring protection or for enabling these drives in another system partition.
When installed in a model 520 CEC, only short PCI cards can be plugged into slot C05.
